MUCH TO REPORT.....this evening, but lets start in order of the crisis waves that have struck in the past 10 days. Joshua is recovering well and slowly, this is good. His wound is a bit weepy and he is getting irritable with the stitch ends pricking him when he lay down but is much brighter and happier in himself....Mum and Dad breathing sigh of relief. We await the Histology and Biopsy results...but thats a worry for another day. Hugo....however is not faring so good and Mummy is very angry with the Vet! Rushed to emergency surgery last Saturday they declared his muscle wastage and arthritis was the cause of his total lameness and non weight bearing ability on back leg. That same night, as posted, you all know I discovered massive abcess formations on two of his back foot toes. I tended to over weekend until we could return to vet this afternoon....this morning in her pyjamamas my wonderful friend Carol drove miles to my home bringing a poultice which was applied, by lunchtime one of the abcess had burst....thank god! The vet this afternoon was shocked at the extent of infection which has travelled a third of the way up Hugos leg hence his total lameness....nothing to do with his arthritis! She pumped him full of antibiotic and he has an intensive course to commence tomorrow. The vet hopes we have caught the infection in time and we must watch it carefully over next 3 days. If the antibiotics dont kick in fast enough then Hugo may face amputation of his two back toes....... this is of course worse case scenario but we all know how my luck runs!!! I am so annoyed that Saturdays vet didnt even examine his foot...... there is no we....you Miss Vet should have detected the foot infection....as such Hugo was robbed of 48 hours worth of vital antibiotic. He is too big a dog and arthritic to have to learn to cope with balance at the age of 11 years thanks to your mis diagnosis.... we all make mistakes but this was too obvious to have missed Im sorry. Mother Witch is seriously unhappy!
