MURIC: SULTAN NEVER RECANTED EID MOON-SIGHTING The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) yesterday said the Sultan’s Palace never admitted that the new moon was not sighted before the Sultan made an announcement for the Eid el-Fitr. MURIC Director Prof. Ishaq Akintola said in a statement, in reaction to an online publication, that the Sultan has reaffirmed his earlier announcement to the effect that moon was sighted Saturday evening. Akintola urged Muslim stakeholders to guard their unity and to stand behind the Sultan and avoid division within the Nigerian Muslim community.
