MURWIRA ON CLOUD 9 HARARE - Dynamos’ new signing, utility player Godknows Murwira, says he is excited to join a club he has long imagined himself being a part of – saying it was a dream to join the champions. Murwira recently sealed a move to the record Zimbabwean title winners on a two-year deal from relegated Shabanie Mine. So versatile is the 21-year-old that he is comfortable playing at right-back, centre back and in midfield – even featuring upfront in the later stages of last season for Shabanie and scoring three goals. Murwira becomes the latest Dynamos acquisition this week following the capture of Kelvin Bulaji and Dominic Chungwa from rivals CAPS United alongside ZPC Kariba wingback Obey Mwerahari. He admits, however, that he feels the pressure of playing for the country’s biggest football club, which last year won a fourth straight league title under the stewardship of former coach Calisto Pasuwa. “I’m looking forward to helping Dynamos maintain their dominance or maybe even go further,” Murwira told the Daily News yesterday. “I admit it’s going to be tough, especially with the high standard that has been set by others. It’s going to be hard work but I am ready for the challenge.” The former Monomotapa man also spoke of life at Shabanie, saying the Zvishavane club had fallen on hard times, but still grateful to the miners for giving him the stage to exhibit his talents. “There were a lot of challenges at Shabanie,” he said. “When we won our winning bonuses would not come, even salaries were not being paid. But I want to thank them for giving me game time and a platform to be seen. “Hence when the season ended I was approached by a number of teams. But the advice that came through was that Dynamos could be bridge to help me scale greater heights.” Daily News
