DELUXE HOTELS BREAKFAST AND EITHER LUNCH OR DINNER INCLUDED DAILY Day 1: Thu Aug 21: Fly on Air Berlin from New York to Berlin. Trans-Atlantic flight. Day 2: Fri, Aug 22: Tour orientation and Introductory lecture on the African Presence in Europe by Dr. Rashidi. Visit the Gemaldegalerie and the Egyptian Museum. Lunch at a Berlin restaurant. Overnight in Berlin. Leonado Hotel California Day 3: Sat, Aug 23: Take a cruise on the River Spree for an introduction to Berlins famous sights and varied architecture. After lunch visit the Ethnological Museum in Berlin or enjoy an optional walking tour of the Turkish influenced neighborhood of Kreuzberg and experience the Caribbean vibes of the Yaam beach area or just enjoy the rest of the day shopping or relaxing or sightseeing on your own. Overnight in Berlin. Day 4: Sun Aug 24: Morning flight on EasyJet to Amsterdam, transfer to Ibis Stopera. Visit the National Antiquities Museum in Leiden, lunch and enjoy a canal boat tour of Amsterdam. Overnight in Amsterdam. Day 5: Mon, Aug 25: Morning visit to the Rijkhmuseum, with the focus on the African Presence in the Art of the European Renaissance. Lunch. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Amsterdam. Day 6: Tues, Aug 26: Drive from Amsterdam to Brussels, Belgium. Stopover in Breda with lunch catered by the African womens organization Marshe Breda. Presentation by Dr. Rashidi on the African Presence in European Art. On the way to Brussels view the Black Virgin at St. Martins Basilica in Halle, Belgium. Overnight in Brussels. Thon Hotel Day 7: Wed, Aug 27: City tour of Brussels, lunch at a Congolese restaurant and a visit to the Royal Museum of History and Art. Overnight in Brussels. Day 8: Thurs, August 28: Morning drive to Paris with commentary by Runoko Rashidi on African Artifacts in European Museums. City tour of Paris, highlights include many of the most famous landmarks in Paris, including the Pantheon (with the burial place of the famous African-French writer Alexandre Dumas), Presence Africaine book store (the first African bookstore in Paris), Notre Dame Cathedral, the Madeline Church (where Josephine Baker was eulogized), Arch of Triumph, the Eiffel Tower and the obelisk of Ramses the Great. Lunch at an African restaurant. Overnight in Paris. Day 9: Fri, Aug 29: Morning lecture by Dr. Rashidi, followed by a visit to the historic Louvre Museum, farewell lunch and a cruise on the Seine River. Overnight in Paris. Day 10: Sat, Aug 30: End of our tour, return to the US. Deposit: In order to maintain blocked space and confirmed rates, an initial deposit of $200pp per seat due.
