MY LETTER TO PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA Chester, June 9, 2013 Dear President Obama, Your second trip to Africa, as a second term president of the United States of America is unprecedented. Although you traveled to Ghana and Egypt before, you will certainly experience a different welcome cheers in Senegal, Tanzania and South Africa. As you know, the Republic of Senegal is trying, for centuries, to strengthen its democracy, making sure that elections are held on time; liberty and the rule of law are fundamentals in our political process. However, our culture and traditions are very sensitive about social changes we are facing. Senegal people will not work with you on gay issues. THEY WILL NOT. I hope you will avoid any talks with president Macky Sall on that issue. What, we Senegalese people, are looking for, is working with American investors to build a strong partnership with the USA in agriculture, information technology, nursing, etc. The First Lady , your children and you will be very welcome “ dans le pays de la Teranga”.
