MY MORNING THOUGHTS: It is in academics that you are given a chance to repeat when you fail because its a path to SELF-DEVELOPMENT. However, when one fails in real life, especially where the lives of over 150 million people are involved, it is dangerous to repeat the process. Its just like insisting on a drug when it has failed to cure the ailment in every dose possible. We complain when our villages guarded by security agents are attacked yet we see nothing wrong with incompetence. We call the police incompetent when they fail to recover our stolen goods or to arrest suspects and call for their prosecution or outright dismissal. What then do we call people who have failed to do their job well to guaranty access to our basic necessities? We call them MISUNDERSTOOD, MALIGNED, we say they are trying, we blame the opposition, we blame the North, we blame the South & everyone who dares raise a voice against the MISUNDERSTOOD but we dont blame the person. After all, we say, we are a hard people to govern. I guess Americans, the British, the Japanese are easy to govern. At a point in our lives we had EFCC which had teeth & though the bark was louder than the bite, we had it anyway. Then came the defanging of the commission & we could only here the bark. Still, we had it anyway. Now we are in the era of of a defanged and mute commission. What is left is a change of name to Minor Economic & Financial Crimes Commission (MEFCC). Who do we blame? Tinubu and Fashola & the G7 and the opposition. So we have found a new way of fighting crime. Its like football where you make sure you go with a point by playing a draw game. You want examples? Uduah bought bullet-proof cars and we decided to balance it by concocting a story on Fashola buying bullet-proof cars too. Before that, he had concessioned Lagos to Tinubu. So, we have a draw, at least along party lines. PDP cant be said to be corrupt since APC is corrupt too and vice versa. Now corruption is measured and justified by who isnt doing it after all?. See where the politicians are taking us and we are following and championing their causes blindly. we have used our sentiment of branding anyone who says anything against the evil being perpetrated to let a good case go. I put the Uduah saga on the table of Mr. President. I agree that no court has found her guilty. I also agree that no court appointed her. Her case has 3 dimensions: The legal, the political and the MORAL. On moral and political basis, she ought to have been relieved of her position because leadership is about trust and integrity. So, each time you are thinking of rationalizing corruption by using the balancing act along party basis, just think who will be cheated. Fela said: Suffering and Smiling.
