MY RANT RESPONSE TO A RANT DISSING ARTISTS: If you think the bands in Deep Ellum are only overaged men, you are dead wrong! There is a shit ton of fresh talent out there every weekend, working their asses off. If you ask me, its the venues that are doing EVERYONE a disservice. They dont pay talent. They dont promote talent. They only care about their bottom line. It hurts the real and original bands and forces them to go play ft. worth or denton. There is no local rap scene for this same reason. Every venue wants the poorest bands to promote and bring them business...if you own your venue, shouldnt YOU be responsible for bringing in your own business? And maybe if venues actually paid and supported the artists, these artists could afford to record better demos so that folks like you who opt to critique from their computers could at least have a better idea of what the band is like. *mic drop
