*MY THOUGHT SUMMARY FOR TODAY* Didnt want to hijack someone elses thread, Karolyn Smith. But my new friend from KALIFONIA posted a story about a kid who found $20 in a parking lot, and instead of buying himself something, bought a soldier breakfast with it. I am reminded of the blessings I have in my line of work, and as a LOT has gone wrong for me personally lately, I am trying to focus on the blessings so as not to get overwhelmed. In my line of work, (I work for the VA) I am priveledged to meet all branches of service, from all generations of warfare. I get invites to lots of functions, reunions, and activities. WW2 guys are my personal favorites cause I grew up around my grandfather who fought the Japanese from Pearl all the way back to Japan. This past december, I saw an old guy in Cracker Barrel with an IWO JIMA hat on. I patted his shoulder and told him Semper FI! And wound up having like a 20 minute conversation with him and his wife. He was a first wave arrival on IWO and walked off 36 days later with 5 holes that God didnt give him. I was honored to buy his breakfast. And when I went to pay for my own, the guy in line behind me, took my check and paid it for me. I often wonder how much better the world would be if more people paid it forward like I was honored to do, and a total stranger did for me. I think myself, as do many many others, allow ourselves to get overwhelmed. I am 4 months in to my New Years resolution, and half of it is still attainable. Take time to appreciate what you have. Remember those who made it possible. ~Time to head HOME~
