MY WEDDING FILM AGED 28 YEARS This week on Saturday 16 August, I will have been married to my beautiful wife, Ruby, for 28 years - I do not know how but she has managed to put up with me for so long. Ruby has been there for me through thick and thin and supported me in my professional work and business career - my love and appreciation for her grows more and more each day. I reminded Ruby of a quotation years ago...... you dont have to understand me, just love me and that has been the mantra in our marriage and we are proud parents to two great children, Prenam (21) and Manv Gill (25). I am sorry for my failings but without failings we would be all perfect and if we are all perfect , life would be fairly dull - thank you Mrs Ruby Gill. This is a fairly big week for the Gill Family - my nephew Sunny Gill is getting married and I can see my brother Suki Gill and his wife Renki happy and bursting with pride and this is before the wedding!.... a big shout out to my nephew Sunny Gill and Rajvir and all the best for your big day. Now back to my wedding film aged 28 years - my how times have changed. How hard can it be for the videographer (who is still apparently knocking around) to capture a wedding day without any grand reception entrance, no wedding cake, no first dance or couple shots outside of the temple. I have to say my own wedding film reminds me why I love my job. To be part of someones day is a big honour and privilege and we try and capture and edit with creativity and use the right tools. In my film, a single camera shoot, the lighting and sound is all over the place and basically rubbish, tripod probably spent 90% of the day in the bag or in the guys car and there is at least 90 minutes (yes there really is) of table shots and people munching food - really not a pretty sight. There were 150 guests in total rather than the 700 or so we no see week in week out and that part of it was good. It does bring back memories though and seeing some of our loved ones now no longer with us on film is the true priceless value of the memories we in the industry create for people. Yes, times have indeed changed and the demands of cinematography (multi cams, JIB cranes, aerial drones, sliders etc) are very challenging but it is also important to nail the basics first. I am going to close this blog by thanking my wife Ruby again but also saying that we got married in the ...couple in a wine glass era so heres a few from our album for you to enjoy and laugh at ! Thank you, Taj
