Madhubani painting, which by one account means forest of honey (‘Madhu’-honey, ‘Ban’-forest or woods), is a style of Indian painting practiced in the state of Bihar in India. This region has a distinct identity and language that reportedly spans 2500 years. Painting is done with fingers, twigs, brushes, nib-pens, and matchsticks using natural dyes and pigments, and is characterized by eye-catching geometrical patterns.There are paintings for each occasion and festival. Children will learn about: - Madhubani painting origin - Madhubani tradition - Different styles within Madhubani - Strokes and designs of Madhubani - How to make old style brushes with bamboo - How to make natural dyes At end of the workshop, each child will have completed a beautiful Madhubani painting to showcase. Age 5-16 need a minimum 10 students Cost: $150/kid with all materials provided Duration: total 4 hrs.
