Mailonis mom returns Home THE mother of the slain bloodthirsty Mailoni brothers, Ms Janet Ngimu, is free to return to Luano Valley, Government has said. Ms Ngimu was moved to Kabwe by security personnel for fear of a backlash from the families of the 12 victims killed in cold blood by her sons. She was being kept at a secret location in Kabwe for her safety. Ms Ngimu, who suffered beatings at the hands of her notorious sons, took refuge in Kabwe after people in Luano tried to vent their anger on her. The blood-thirsty brothers, Mika Mailoni, 35, Stephen Mailoni, 31, and their ring leader Fabian ‘Tunda’ Mailoni, 27, were killed by an army crack squad in Luano Valley on June 24. The Mailonis terrorised people in Chief Chembe’s chiefdom from 2007 and killed with bows and arrows. Mkushi district commissioner Christopher Chibuye and his Luano counterpart, Luka Mwamba, said in separate interviews in Mkushi on Thursday, that Ms Ngimu is a free woman. They said she was free because she was not involved in her sons’ criminal activities. “She should be treated like any other citizen of Zambia. The people know that she had no hand in whatever her children did,” Mr Chibuye said. Mr Chibuye said people in Chief Chembe’s area should live normal lives. Mr Mwamba said: “She is a human being. She is a Zambian and she is free to return.” Meanwhile, the Zambia Flying Doctors Services (ZFDS) is likely to resume operations in Luano Valley following the death of the Mailoni brothers. The ZFDS suspended operations in Luano Valley after the Mailoni brothers killed chief pilot Dr Modesto Masumba. “The Zambia Flying Doctors Services has been engaged to resume operations in Luano Valley. They are likely to do that,” Mr Chibuye said.
