Major Movie Reviews – *New Movie Release* Automata (R) (Sci-fi/Thriller) Limited In Theaters Autómata is a movie thats all look and no feel, all sizzle and no steak; while its remarkably easy to appreciate a film with such nimble visuals, the lead-footed storytelling makes it difficult to care. One gets the feeling of witnessing some kind of primordial origin story about parallel destinies for the human race and the intelligent machines we make. Automata starts off slow and even a bit boring but its sci-fi circuits finally start to generate interest at about the halfway point…rarely do we see such good-looking science fiction that borrows smartly from the best films of the genre and tries to do something intellectual with the material. Antonio Banderas does work hard to keep us engaged in this convoluted sci-fi thriller about rebellious robots. After an hour, though, youll wonder why you didnt just stay home to watch Blade Runner again. MRR gives this film 2 out of 5 General Officer Stars. Movie Story Line: Jacq Vaucan, an insurance agent of ROC Robotics Corporation, routinely investigates the case of manipulating a robot. What he discovers will have profound consequences for the future of humanity.
