Major pain in the ass: The autocorrect feature of Word, clearly devised to serve the need of mid-level business executives with the linguistic skills of a chimpanzee, when you are trying to type Latin or old French. To make matters worse I have built, over the years, a Latin dictionary in my processor, but one based on modern church Latin (think “Liber Usualis Latin”) so the autocorrect not only transforms words into improbable English cognates, but also merrily “modernizes” the Beneventan spellings when I am editing those texts, and because I am a two-finger typist I do feel I need to keep the damned feature on.
