Major wildlife slaughterhouse busted in Hanoi Vietnamese police have rescued many wild animals being held illegally for slaughtering when they busted a slaughterhouse in Hanoi on Friday. The raid in the slaughterhouse in Nam Tu Liem Dist. was launched after police pulled over a motorbike in Cau Giay District and found that it was carrying two pangolins, a porcupine, four civets and a dead civet. The driver, whose identity was not revealed, confessed he was trafficking the wild animals to the facility. During the raid, the police found many wild animals, including pangolins, porcupines and civets that were kept in cages, according to the conservation NGO Education for Nature-Vietnam. Police also found many slaughtering tools and small pebbles which the employees used to pump into the animals’ stomach to increase their weight for higher profit. Several porcupines were being slaughtered on the floor. Police are investigating the case further.
