Make Gods Calling Sure All through biblical history, there has been people who have opposed Gods called clergy. The calling of God on ones life has to be genuine; but, throughout history people have attempted to exalt themselves into positions of authority over Gods people. I (Jesus) tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. Luke 18:14, Matthew 23:12, Luke 14:11, (NIV). The devil has always tried to emulate the things of God; and that is true to this very day. You may read in the book of Numbers, Chapter 16, of men who rose up against Moses, and his calling from God, and tried to duplicate what God was doing through Moses and Aaron. Sometimes, Gods judgment is instantaneous; but, at other times, God will allow a period of time for people to repent over a matter. Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore, the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. Ecclesiastes 8:11 (KJV). God is a God of Love; but, He is also a God of Judgment. This is the biblical account of the quick judgment that came upon Korah, Dathan and Abiram for usurping themselves into positions that God never called them to occupy: Then, the Lord said to Moses, Say to the assembly, ‘Move away from the tents of Korah, Dathan and Abiram.’ Moses got up and went to Dathan and Abiram, and the elders of Israel followed him. He warned the assembly, Move back from the tents of these wicked men! Do not touch anything belonging to them, or you will be swept away because of all their sins. So, they moved away from the tents of Korah, Dathan and Abiram. Dathan and Abiram had come out and were standing with their wives, children and little ones at the entrances to their tents. Then, Moses said, “This is how you will know that the Lord has sent me to do all these things; and that it was not my idea: If these men die a natural death and suffer the fate of all mankind, then the Lord has not sent me. But if the Lord brings about something totally new, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them, with everything that belongs to them, and they go down alive into the realm of the dead, then you will know that these men have treated the Lord with contempt. As soon as he finished saying all this, the ground under them split apart and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them and their households, and all those associated with Korah, together with their possessions. They went down alive into the realm of the dead, with everything they owned; the earth closed over them, and they perished, and were gone from the community. At their cries, all the Israelites around them fled, shouting, “The earth is going to swallow us too! And fire came out from the Lord and consumed the 250 men who were offering the incense. Numbers 16:23-35 (NIV). The calling of God into His ministry work is the highest calling of a human on earth. Whomever is called into evangelism and ministry should seek the Lord in prayer to be sure that their plans are according to Gods will. Being out of the will of God causes our work to be in vain. Not everyone who says to Me (Jesus) (Yeshua), Lord, Lord, will enter the Kingdom of Heaven; but, only the one who does the will of My Father, Who is in Heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your Name, and in Your Name drive out demons, and in Your Name perform many miracles? Then, I will tell them plainly, I never knew you. Away from Me, you evildoers! Matthew 7:21-23 (NIV). I have preached before on false prophets and ministers. God qualifies those that He calls and He uses the base things of this world to bring down those who are haughty and proud. Pride brings a person low; but, the lowly in spirit gain honor. Proverbs 29:23 (NIV). A song of ascents. Of Solomon. Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. Psalms 127:1 (NIV). Therefore, we who feel Gods calling should pray earnestly and seek His will in everything! Humble yourselves, therefore, under Gods mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. 1 Peter 5:6, James 4:10 (NIV).
