Makkah, Saudi Arabia Assalamu alaikum. Just returned from Eid Salah at Masjid al Aqsa. Amazing spirit with the whole compound full. Between Fajr Salah and Eid Salah, the whole compound was filled with the sounds of Takbeer and Durood on our beloved Sallahullahu alaihi wasallam. The Salah was led by Mufti Ekrimah Sabree who visited our Jamia Mosque Blackburn a few years ago. In his Khutbah, he was vocal against the Jewish oppression and occupation and criticised those who sell their lands to the Jews. He also stressed the importance of Takbeer after Salah and throughout homes, market places and elsewhere in accordance to the position of Imam Shafiee and Imam Ahmed. The Salah was in accordance to the Hanafi Madhab as this is the official Madhab of Masjid al Aqsa, despite the majority being Shafiees. (This also applies to Witr in Ramadan) The Imams of Masjid al Aqsa have a habit of referring to the Hanafi position as he specifically mentioned the Wujoob of Udhiyyah. Salatul Janazah Ghaibana took place for the Shuhada especially those who passed away in the sea recently. Mufti Ekrimah is the former Mufti of Quds. This position was taken away from him by Mahmoud Abbas due to his political stance. We pray to Allah to free Al Quds and the entire Muslim lands from the current rulers. Wassalam. Yusuf
