Male Dog’s and Marking in the House • Break the habit - keep him on a leash at all times in the house, because you want to catch him in the act. • Interrupt territorial marking, watch him for any signs of him getting ready to lift his leg (sniffing, circling), and as soon as he starts, startle him and say “Leave It” and tell him No Bad Dog, take him outside. Give him praise when he urinates appropriately “OUTSIDE.” • Clean soiled areas with pet enzyme products (Urine Off) and if possible restrict your dog’s access to these areas. If this is not possible, remove territorial triggers such as food and water, the toy basket or beds. • At night you can limit the water, pick up one or two hours before bedtime, take him out before the household goes to bed.
