Man, I wish the folks who work in television news here (locally & nationally) would try being journalists rather than jst talking head anchors & reporters. I wish they covered more stories involving issues of public importance in a thorough responsible ethical & objective way.. Rather than pandering to trends in public opinion when forming narratives, wasting airtime on useless substanceless not-at-all-newsworthy fluff pieces, & calling covert corporate endorsement crap news. 😕 I blame them, our 4th Estate - the supposed guardians of free-speech, acting as societies watchdogs, shining sunlight on shady activities, who are responsible for the dissemination of accurate crucial information to the public.. For a hefty chunk of the recent declines weve experienced in our society over the last 40yrs. I find it really irritating & bewildering to wittness the reporting done by the mindless drones & incompetent talking-heads on tv news.. And when I think about the audience that they reach, & the influence have & the power the news media wields, it becomes really quite unsettling. 😯 In order for us to have a thriving nation with a functioning democracy, we need to be an intelligent educated knowledgeable public capable of responsibly making informed decisions. And with the increasing cuts made to fund public schools, combined w/ increased hours worked by all (leaving less time given to any research on ones own), people have become increasingly more & more dependant on tv news to give them a general breakdown of important events & to provide any pertinent details or things they should know..... And upon being given this responsibility American news media became our failed 4th Estate who sold out & let us down. 😦
