Man United sack Moyes *Giggs takes over from Moyes temporarily Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs has been placed in temporary charge of first team affairs after the sacking of manager David Moyes on Tuesday, the English Premier League club said. Giggs, 40, had been an assistant to Moyes during the Scots ill-fated 10-month spell in charge of the champions and will step in for the final four league fixtures while the club decide on a permanent replacement, United said in a statement. The champions are seventh in the table, 23-points behind leaders Liverpool, and host Norwich City on Saturday then face Sunderland and Hull City before a final trip to Southampton. Reaction to Manchester Uniteds sacking of manager David Moyes on Tuesday: There is no disguising that the football this season has been poor, the results have been poor. As a fan, Ive not enjoyed watching it. Im sure David Moyes himself hasnt enjoyed watching it. - Former United defender Gary Neville. The players have to take massive responsibility. They are the ones out on the football pitch. I never once in my 18-year career at United turned around after the game and thought you lost us that game, boss. Its always the players. - Neville. This video is not available. It has been disastrous season. It was inevitable... these seven months have been terrible, but he (Moyes) did a great job at Everton and Preston. He will come back as a manager. - Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher. Its been a huge disappointment not to be involved in the race for the Premier League title, to get knocked out of the Champions League and to be out of the race for a place in next seasons Champions League. The players are equally to blame. - Former United striker Dwight Yorke. People say theyre not a sacking club, Man Utd dont sack managers. Well, theres one reason why theyve not sacked a manager for the last 26 years. Its because they had the best (in Alex Ferguson). Theyve never needed to. Otherwise theyd have just been like everybody else and probably had nine or 10 managers. - former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp.
