Man charged over sheep rob-baa-ry - Nyngan A man was charged earlier this week in relation to the theft of 68 sheep from a property near Nyngan. In April this year, several hundred sheep were reported missing by a farmer near Coolabah in the state’s far west. Following inquiries by rural crime officers from Darling River Local Area Command, 35 ewes were located on a property north of Gilgandra and another five found in Cobar. On Monday 20 October 2014, a 34-year-old Cobar man attended Nyngan Police Station and was arrested and charged with stock theft in relation to the sheep worth approximately $6,000. The man was granted conditional bail to appear before Nyngan Local Court on 25 November 2014. The arrest comes as a timely reminder regarding stock wander onto neighbouring properties. The Impounding Act 1993 clearly stipulates steps a property owner must take action if neighbouring stock wander onto their property. Police continue to work closely with Local Land Services and Local Government during these investigations.
