John Carver has revealed it would be a “dream job” to manage Newcastle, amid ongoing speculation of Alan Pardew’s departure to Crystal Palace. The 49-year-old will have a chance to lay down his credentials for the job on New Year’s Day when he takes temporary charge of the Magpies against Burnley, while former Newcastle goalkeeper Steve Harper claimed Carver would be capable of managing the north-east club on a full-time basis.
