Manchester United Announce Club Record Annual Revenue of £433.2m 10 Sep 2014 Manchester United have announced a club record annual revenue of £433.2m for 2013/14 up until 30th June. Profits are significantly down on the previous year, but are still worth a healthy £23.8m. Following the news, as reported by various sources, United executive vice chairman issued the a statement which read: “We are very proud of the results achieved in fiscal year 2014 as we once again generated record revenues and EBITDA driven by our commercial and broadcasting businesses which delivered impressive year over year growth. We also recently announced a record breaking deal with adidas and very much look forward to launching this partnership next summer. With Louis van Gaal at the helm as Manager, and the recent signing of some of the world’s leading players to further strengthen our squad, we are very excited about the future and believe its the start of a new chapter in the Club’s history. It has been disclosed that dismissing David Moyes and his staff cost United £5.2m, but lost revenue from missing out on Champions League wont be included until next years figures. Commercial revenue, boosted by new corporate partnerships, increased by 24% to £189.3m. The clubs prospectus released to the New York Stock Exchange explained that a large part of the revenue has come from huge merchandise sales. The Manchester United jersey and training wear are completely redesigned for each season. The annual launch of the new jersey is always a much-anticipated day for our global community of followers. The result is a robust wholesale apparel business that sold approximately five million items of Manchester United branded licensed products, including approximately two million replica jerseys, around the world in the last year.
