Manivannan Vangalur wanted my top 10 tamil movie list. I benefited by the Top 10 book list that is doing its round. Got a list of so many good books that I can now read. Similarly, to make my list useful, I decided not to mention the movies that is almost there in everyones Top 10 list. I want those who read this to go and watch at least a couple of movies from this list. Hence, it is also important to list movies that are available to buy or download. Here is my Top 10 movies (from last 10 years) that were really good but flopped because they left the theatres before the audience realised their awesomeness! 1. Aaranya Kaandam - It is tamils own stylish neo-noir film. Won critical acclaim world-wide but went un-noticed in the state 2. Moodar Koodam - One of the best black comedies. Released last year and vacated the theatres before the word of mouth reached the ears. 3. Thavamaai Thavamirunthu - Cherans master piece on father-son relationship 4. Punnagai Poove - It is one sided love story narrated from the girls point of view (we are so used to seeing a mans love story) 5. Poo - Yet another moving love story of a village girl 6. Puthupettai - A true cult film on gangsters 7. Katrathu Thamizh - Talking about cult...this is definitely one of the more recent and definite one. 8. Peraanmai - Communism with Action. Watch this for the dialogues 9. Sindhanai Sei - Lack of marketing could be the only reason why this flopped 10. Madhubana Kadai - A unique movie that starts and ends inside a Tasmac.
