Many authors of Feng Shui until today are still categorizing Feng Shui into 2 schools, Form Feng Shui and Compass Feng Shui. I personally feel that it is not right to do so. Yes, Form Feng Shui is referring to the Landscape, the Mountains and the bodies of water in the environment but when the authors refer to Compass Feng Shui as a school, I beg to disagree. I must say that all Feng Shui practices uses the compass. Obviously in Classical Feng Shui the use of the compass is a prerequisite. And come to think of it, even the New Age Feng Shui practitioners will also require the use of the compass in order to identify the location where to place their mandarin ducks. Hence, I believe it is not right to categorize Feng Shui into these 2 schools. Rightful, the 2 major schools of Classical Feng Shui are classified under San He (Landforms) and San Yuen (3 Cycles – Time perspective) – just my slightly OCD self here ;)
