Many congratulations in order for some of the best #Chesterfield students! Thanks for being you.... Who are Chesterfield’s Students of the Year? An inquisitive learner. Hard working, creative, positive and helpful. An exceptional role model. A friend to all. A superstar. Those are descriptions from teachers and principals of students selected as 2014 Students of the Year. Each year, Chesterfield County Public Schools honors two students from every school for demonstrating citizenship and the school division’s core values of respect, responsibility, honesty and accountability. On April 24, during a banquet sponsored by the Midlothian Rotary Club, 124 students from Chesterfield’s 62 schools will gather with their families, principals, teachers and others to be recognized as Students of the Year for 2014. Here are a few more descriptions of these remarkable students: • An outstanding student, friend and leader • One of those students that you wish you could clone • Dedicated to both academics and community service • Undeniably wonderful • Character and integrity are of the highest caliber • Mature, hard working, self-motivated and self-directed • Always lends a hand • Has overcome a great amount of hardship • Always tries her very best • A role model to other students • Shows up every day with a smile and a warm greeting • He never gives up• Devoted to learning • Always willing to help others • Always a team player • A phenomenal student who has proven time and again that hard work pays off • Thoughtful, kind and friendly • One of the students that teachers dream of having • A compassionate and caring person • A model student inside and outside of the classroom • Takes great pride in her work The Students of the Year banquet will take place 6-8:30 p.m. April 24 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, located off Midlothian Turnpike. Thomas Dale High’s jazz band will perform. JJROTC students from Manchester Middle will serve as the color guard. School Board Chair Dianne Smith, Superintendent Marcus Newsome and Midlothian Rotarians Chris Winslow and Dr. Jeffrey Martin will present plaques to the Students of the Year. Video from this event will be shown on Comcast Channel 96 and Verizon Fios Channel 26 at 7 p.m. May 2.
