Many many of you have written to me personally (maybe 200 folks) + many on The Voice of Stray Dogs page wishing us well & that VoSD service not be discontinued! Ive already posted in detail that it would never be and I was wanting to finding a better way to interface when we face regular abuse. But your overwhelming support for me, and VoSD, even in the face of much motivated reporting by Bangalore Mirror (for which incidentally I was one of the Heros of Bangalore nominee last year) is humbling. It is humbling to read of your support when youve been told about VoSD closing that that Ive been arrested etc! But nothing would compare to what I recd today by post. A hand written letter from an 89 year old lady Ms Assey, written with quivering hands, from an old age home referring to Bangalore Mirrors headlined article. She says: .. I write from an old age home Mr Shukla but in my family home there are 5 dogs aged 14-16 yrs... so as a dog lover I am distraught that you should be discouraged by some inhuman types (lower than the lowest of the low)... .. surely God who sees the innermost hearts has seen your gesture as one of kind, where you have so poignantly emphasized that actions speak louder than words... Stray dogs barking in distress are generally ignored Mr Shukla, but you gave them dignity.. so please dont abandon your laudable action engraved in the annals of time... .. I voice the voice of the doggie orphan on the front page of Bangalore mirror today Please do not abandon us I had a colleague of mine Sangeeta when this came in and she was moved to tears reading it - and shes one strong woman. Dear Ms Assey - I have said this before and I say it again - VoSD will not close. Not now not ever. The attempt was to find an equilibrium to protect ourselves from what we know to be motivated and concerted abuse. However that is nothing compared to the voices of so much of Bangalore that have stood in my and VoSDs support. My own trials of facing abuse and even arrest seem a trifle compared to your largeness of heart. I shall face the purgatory should I disregard your love and kindness by even making these changes. Full service of VoSD is being restored and VoSD will continue as it always has. The VoSD Live Update feature is being restored even as I write. The VoSD Store is being restored as well. About the yellow journalism of a Bangalore Mirror - there will be another day, but what do I say - they are the bottom of the Times of India heap! And thats some depth isnt it?
