Many of my fellow conservatives are ecstatic for the results of the midterm elections, which fell heavily in favor of the Republican party. They also remain enthusiastic about the 2016 elections and presidential race. They believe it will be a replay of this years turnout, as swing voters weary of Obama & co. head their way. But, if they realized why the nation went Republican this time around, they may not feel so positively. Once again, the economy was the number one concern of voters, polls show, and though the nations voting trends indicate they correctly realize something aint working in Washington, Im afraid their Republican remedy is going to fall short. Because they both benefit so maliciously well from it, the monetary policy in Washington remains constant no matter which party is in power. Thus the very problems that influenced the current swing to Republicans (intentional inflation, low interest rates, high personal debt, etc) will still be haunting us in 2016. That means Obama & co. have two good long years to blame Americas complete wreck of an economy on Republican gridlock - another of Washingtons pejorative terms used by both parties to reference any attempt to block their power grabs and cronyism/socialist agenda. Yes, by winning these midterm elections, the Republican party might have sealed its fate for any 2016 hopes. And with the immense success of the Democratic partys race-politics smear tactics campaign, a loss in the upcoming presidential election could mean the final relegation of the Republican party to the trashbin of history. Such racists have no place in the future. Republicans, as well as my fellow anarchists and endeared libertarians, suffer a delusion common to all conservatives. Namely, we erroneously feel like this country belongs to us, rather than that we share it alike with those of the leftist persuasion. But indeed we do share it, and inasmuch as a group can own a nation, leftists own every bit of it the same as us. Therefore, their attempts to transform it into something unrecognizable from the original is something the country is doing to itself, rather than something the left is doing to us or to the country. Its important to realize that in order to see the truth of politics in America: this whole thing is on a downhill collision course with a fiery socialist end, and any attempt to change that is futile. Its time to secede, mentally and perhaps actually. From all this, I am reminded of the words of the great H.L. Mencken: When a candidate for public office faces the voters he does not face men of sense; he faces a mob of men whose chief distinguishing mark is the fact that they are quite incapable of weighing ideas, or even of comprehending any save the most elemental — men whose whole thinking is done in terms of emotion... So confronted, the candidate must either bark with the pack or be lost... All the odds are on the man who is, intrinsically, the most devious and mediocre... The Presidency tends, year by year, to go to such men. As [more and more elections take place], the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their hearts desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron. The president reflects the inner soul of the people. Powerful words. It should not be surprising then, that our president is a self-aggrandizing narcissist who harbors vicious contempt for the fundamental values of this countrys people - because so do they. Even modern Christians have degraded internally as such, favoring war so highly Laurence Vance has taken to calling them warvangelicals. My fellow Christians do not exude the values of the Prince of Peace, much less question leadership like He did. Perhaps Menckens quote above could be applied to the Christian microcosm - their inner soul is realized by their adherence to pastors who praise the state and its wars, and who tickle their ears with platitudes and vain prosperity gospels.
