Many parents are wondering how to talk to their child about - TopicsExpress

Many parents are wondering how to talk to their child about staying safe. Barnardos Project Leader in Cork, Jenna, has this advice for parents: Hearing stories in the media can make children nervous, anxious or scared. The parents we work with want what’s best for their children; they want them to grow up with high self-esteem and to be confident. From our experience, we believe that parents are best placed to talk to their child about safety, and will know what is age-appropriate for their child’s stage of development. We advise parents to keep to the facts when discussing a story in the media, and not to go into the detail. For example: “A bad man hurt two girls. He is locked away now and the girls’ parents are looking after them.” Please share.
