Many people have been asking about the possibility of 10+ inches of snow coming to our area next week and so Ive decided to address it in a post for anyone that is curious. There is a system that will be working its way into our region next week. Probably in the Tuesday to Thursday time frame. This system has the potential to carry with it a large amount of precipitation. At this time what kind of precipitation is not certain. Could be rain, snow, freezing rain, or some combination of all three. The last GFS model run at 6pm shows an all rain event for our county with maybe a light accumulation of snow sneaking in. The same model at noon today was predicting a freezing rain event with between .2 and .4 inches of freezing rain accumulation. To make a long story short its almost impossible to predict the weather accurately a week out and to be frank no one is real sure how this system will play out at this point. So no reason to hit the panic button just yet. What I can tell you for sure is that Emergency Management will be monitoring this system very close and will update this page with information if and when it develops. - Ben Barnett, Director.
