Many seasoned Believers think that they have the God kind of patience merely because of how much they have tolerated and did not quit. However, PATIENCE is not just putting up with something unpleasant or undesirable. Patience is enduring things with the right (Godly) attitude, character, and responses to a challenge or trying task. It is God’s grace to not be moved out of the character of Christ by pressure, time or delays. In patience, we maintain our expectant hope and trust in God’s promises, regardless of what things look like or how long it takes for God’s Word to be manifested. God’s word says, “…in patience possess ye your souls.” God’s Word goes on to say, “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” (James 1:2-4). Patience is a process that is good for us, and it’s also a fruit of the Spirit that coincides with the other fruits - faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, and longsuffering. We learn through it. We gain experience through it. The best is the result of it. We cannot walk in victory or power without it! If we are going to be complete in God, we MUST allow God’s shaping tool of patience to do His work in our spirits. If we master learning how to patiently wait on God’s manifestation, He WILL NEVER DISAPPOINT US! Wait on the Lord!
