Many small businesses rely on federal contracts to compete with big businesses. Currently, the law makes it clear that when a large firm misrepresents its status as a small business to attain a federal small business contract that it is a crime. Unfortunately, this administration has chosen to provide “safe harbor from fraud penalties” to large firms who fraudulently represent themselves as small business to gain a contract. This is unacceptable. The government must work to make it easier for small businesses to grow and expand, not harder. Small businesses are America’s job creators. Why are we making it harder for them, instead of easier, to do what they do best—put hard-working Americans to work and grow the economy.
