Many thanks for accepting me as part of the group. I was born in Greenfield House, Greenfield Place, Ryton in 1950 & then moved to East Grange Farm with my parents & 2 older brothers when 3 months old. I left Ryton in 69 to go to college & then seek full-time work in Scotland for many years before settling in Yorkshire back in 89. My older brother Graeme still lives at East Grange & I visit him regularly. I was a member of the Holy Cross Chursh choir in the mid-late 60s & enjoyed helping to start up Ryton Folk Club at Ye Olde Cross Inn as part of Combine, one of the two resident groups along with The Northumbrians. Ive a handful of songs about Ryton characters of the past & recently wrote one about Jack Whelans, the old gas lamp-lighter who wandered the village hitting nine bells off each lamp-post. Happy days....
