Many thanks for adding me to this group. I was born in England in 1948 and - during my early years - Hancocks Half Hour was my favourite show on the RADIO. I can still picture my family sitting around our Portadyne radio listening to the latest episode, with ALL of us laughing at Tonys latest antics. In 1956, my parents decided to emigrate to Canada - but before we left, they got tickets to one of the first Hancocks Half-Hour TV shows. I SO wish I could remember WHICH episode it was, but it must have been one of the earliest because we left for Canada (on The Homeric) in late October, 1956. Id just turned 8 and I remember the last few months as being extremely chaotic while we prepared to leave. Id only ever SEEN a Television Set ONCE before leaving England, so I was AMAZED to actually be sitting in on a LIVE TV BROADCAST - let alone one featuring my very favourite performer. What I DO remember is being seated in long bleacher-type seats and being surprised to learn that all the sets were located side-by-side. So as one scene was completed, Tony and the other performers simply moved over to the next location! That experience MUST have had an impact on me as I went on to a career in Canadian Television, starting as a Film Editor - then a News Film Editor - before turning to Screenwriting in the early 80s. Eventually, I became an Executive Story Editor {fancy term for Head Writer }, then a Creative Producer - with episodes of my exported shows shown all over the world! And at least once a year, I pull out my Hancock videos, treat myself to another Tony Marathon ... and after more than half a century (OMG, am I THAT old???), the man STILL makes me laugh. Im SO sorry his life ended so tragically, and I DO wish hed known what an impact hed made on the lives of his global audience. He certainly impacted mine in a BIG way. So if it isnt too late, Id like to say: Thanks Tony. Tis DEEPLY appreciated...
