Many years ago I worked at a company called Banfield. I was in charge of all of our location in Central Texas. It was there that I met a young lady named Erica Pompa who worked for me. She was one heck of a manger. I left that company over 4 years ago. Erica and I stayed in contact and she became more than an employee, she became a friend. When I was hired in my current role as a Sr. Vice-President, we talked and she wanted a change. I hired her on my new team as a support manager a few months ago. Not once has she ever tried to leverage our friendship at work or testme. She knows I will hold her accountable, but she doesnt make me because she holds herself accountable. Im getting ready to go before the CEO and Board in an hour, for my quarterly meeting, and I asked her for info and she got it! Im flying to Dallas this week to visit my stores and teams there and she is preparing all my store visits folder. I respect her so much that we even hired her husband and gave him a promotion and he is doing a heck of a job running one of our stores. Erica THANK YOU for being an awesome example of what great looks like! I usually dont have people who work for me as my Facebook friend, but when you can separate business and friends, its easy! My point is this, I dont hire PEOPLE, I hire RELATIONSHIPS! #yourock #yourawesome #thanks
