March 11th, 2014 marks 5 years since the passing of Barbara Beech. Some knew her as mom, yet some knew her as nanny. Words to describe such a woman are all but infinite. I need not write this for sympathy of a loss, yet in remembrance of a life. A life filled with love, laughter, joy, care, and so much more. Barbara Beech made an limitless impression on every life she came across; for Barbara was many things. Barbara was a caregiver, a mother, a barber, a cook, a Gardner, and to me a grandmother. As Barbara was my only grandparent in which I was blessed to have memories of. Yet she gave enough care, compassion, love, and laughter into my life to make her so much more to me than just my grandmother. She was my friend, one of the best friends Ive ever had. Barbara was talented in so many things but above all, anyone close to her recognizes her amazing ability and passion for gardening. Barbara was always seen by her family, friends, and peers as having a green thumb. Both figuratively and sometimes literally. She had an amazing ability to simply listen to a description of a flower, plant, or tree and tell you exactly what its name is. Barbara had an amazing passion for growing some of the most beautiful and fully bloomed roses Ive ever seen in my life. Yet gardening only tips the iceberg of her amazing talents. Barbara seemed to always have an amazing ability to keep herself busy whenever possible, and amazingly no matter what time, day, or reason she was always there for so many of us. For she was an amazing woman and yet I can only begin to describe what she meant to me and only imagine what she meant to others. Although she is on my mind everyday she ceases to be with us in body yet remains in mind. For Barbara Beechs memory shall forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her as she loved them. For as many know: A man is not dead if his name is still spoken. In honor of your life we respect your remembrance. All that you loved will continue to keep you in our hearts. For you taught us so much and loved us that much more. In your name I say, I love you nanny and I miss you everyday. We all miss you.
