March 12 Public Hearing: Bringing the Common Core Out from Behind Closed Doors Public Hearing Details The hearing will be held on Wednesday, March 12 at 12:00 PM in room 1E of the Legislative Office Building, 300 Capitol Avenue in Hartford. If you’d like to testify before the committee, you must sign up for the hearing in the First Floor Atrium of the Legislative Office Building. Sign-ups will begin at 8:30 A.M. and will conclude at 9:30 A.M. Speaking order will be determined by lottery. Once the hearing starts, the first hour will be reserved for elected officials and agency heads. Once they have finished speaking, students will be given first priority to speak. When you speak before the Committee, you will be limited to three minutes. If a Committee member asks you a question, however, you will have additional time to respond. It is a good idea to email your written testimony to [email protected], with the word “Testimony” included in the subject line. To ensure its availability to Education Committee members, you must submit it before 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 11. If you’d like to bring hard copies of your written testimony on the day of the hearing, please submit 35 copies. They will be accepted in Room 3100 of the Legislative Office Building until 9:30 A.M. Testimony submitted after that time will not be distributed in hard copy form. All testimony submitted will be accessible at cga.ct.gov/ed.
