March 6, 1975 ... At #7, Scotlands funky Average White Band, with Pick Up The Pieces. The song was written by saxophonist Roger Ball and guitarist Hamish Stuart, but credited to the entire band. It appears on their AWB album, their second studio album. Although Pick Up The Pieces did not chart upon its initial release in the UK, AWBs American fans loved the song. It climbed to the top of the Hot 100 chart and reached #5 on the R&B chart and #11 on the Dance/Disco chart. The AWB album also topped Billboards Pop Album and Black Album charts.
