Marie Wilcox is the last fluent speaker of Wukchumni, one of 130 - TopicsExpress

Marie Wilcox is the last fluent speaker of Wukchumni, one of 130 different endangered Native American languages in the United States. With the help of her family, Marie worked for seven years to catalog everything she knows about the language, including a dictionary, stories, and audio files for pronunciation. She now teaches weekly lessons to other members of her tribe and is teaching the language to her grandchildren. -bb vimeo/105673207
