Mark Moran 37 mins · La Quinta, CA · RANT ALERT! This rant is to my friends Robert F. Sylk and Bob Wright as well to all those who have a stake in La Quinta politics. I campaigned hard for John Pena in this last election. We did a lot of research about those candidates who ran against him and some of that research led me toward encouraging Bob Wright and Doug Hassett to fight the good fight. Robert Sylk, a friend and very involved politico, who created and then nurtured the Concerned Citizens of La Quinta (CCOLQ), is sometimes seen as a disruptive element because he refuses to “go along to get along”, is a credit to his backbone. As everyone knows I supported Don Adolph for Mayor but Linda Evans won with a significant margin. That doesn’t make Don Adolph a bad guy since, with the exception of John Pena, he was one of La Quinta’s longest serving Mayors. (and a damn good one at that.) Finally, the mystery surrounding Robert Radi, who he really is and whether he will be a capable City Councilman is yet to be revealed. He appears to be attached to Linda Evan’s hip. But what it comes down to is this, La Quinta needs to move forward toward greater prosperity and will not do so if we spend useless time infighting. Again, I am not pointing fingers but I know that I will be watching, along with all of you, how Linda will lead and whether Radi is capable of thinking on his own. But, maybe he will, because if he doesn’t, it will be a long four years for all of us. I think that the idea of a more engaged CC of LQ is a great idea and I am proud to join with others to make it the premiere watchdog for our Gem of the Desert. But for those without backbone or who blow sunshine up everyone’s skirts because they are more cheerleaders than players, become informed, become involved and find out about your leadership and make decisions based on “good works” not on popularity. Leadership is about the “bringing together” of people with many opinions and then giving those people a voice. It isn’t about “energy” it’s about Statesmanship. That’s it. Thanks for reading and remember this is just my opinion.
