Mark Rubin · Top Commenter · Commack High School South I am a weather enthusiast and know the science very well. Global Warming is a theory and just like all scientific theories it demands the rigorous scrutiny of skepticism until it is proven correct. There are monetary and political motives entangled that prevent normal scientific methods from being applied. Global warming theory relies on trace increases of CO2 and a presumed amplification, feedback from the primary heat trapping gas, water vapor, to achieve the warming. Water vapor is orders of magnitude the most powerful heat trapping gas and the models assume its increase due to trace CO2 increase. Lack of water vapor is why the arid desert regions cool off at night while tropical humid regions stay warm at night. Since the dawn of industrialization and the burning of fossil fuels to power our modern, technological world that has immensely improved living standards and longevity, not even one extra CO2 molecule has been added to the atmosphere per 10,000 assorted air molecules, mostly nitrogen and oxygen. About 100 years ago there were about 3 CO2 molecules for every 10,000 air molecules. Today, despite all the uproar, we are not even at 4 CO2 molecules per 10,000. So, to the extent global warming theory is correct it is indeed a study of trace increases of a vital biological gas consumed by plants. Further, the climate modelers knew this trace increase in CO2 alone was not sufficient to achieve any statistically measurable warming, and this is why the presumed amplification and positive feedback through increased water vapor is the mechanism that is supposedly doing the work of warming the earth. Climate model simulations all projected current average global temps from 10 to 20 years ago for the present time to be much warmer than has actually measured now.. Further, along with steady to cooling temps (as measured most accurately by satellite, not ground based stations and statistical adjustments that, among other tricks, artificially cool temps from years ago to make present temps appear to have increased more dramatically, they have not) average global water vapor has also decreased. Water vapor does not decrease in a warming world. This is common sense. Water evaporates more readily in warmth and less readily in colder conditions. Decreasing water vapor is a major signal that the global warming theory is wrong. But instead of adjusting the models as enough data has already been collected establishing the earths atmosphere simply is not so sensitive to heat capture with respect to trace increases in CO2, the theory lives on for non-scientific reasons and searches for the missing heat are paid for with your taxes. Its absurd. That is not how science is supposed to work. Conflicting data inconsistent with theory should cause adjustment to the theory. With all this said, the cold outbreak this November is really just the result of an early bend in the jet stream (early as these bends typically happen not until December) that shot upward to the arctic and then shot southward into the center of the USA. That is not unusual. This is the typical way severe arctic cold is transported southward, though it is impressive for mid November, it is still just weather. However, the fact that this southward push of an arctic air mass contained air that so cold that it shattered long standing records by so many degrees is certainly not a sign that the earth is having difficulty losing heat to space in the 24 hour darkness of the arctic winter. The arctic push south is just weather. The fact that so early in the season there has been enough cooling in the arctic darkness to shatter such long standing records is an eye opener. I do not think that 1 extra CO2 molecule kept any heat from escaping the atmosphere. accuweather/en/weather-news/wyoming-colorado-exceptional-cold-nuri/37351786?
