Mark your calendars for the SNHS General Meeting at the NV Coop with Special Guest Speaker Jordan Russell on February 6th. Jordan is the founder of California Breeders Union, where his breeding projects include Blue Tongue Skinks, Geckos, Pythons, and Boas. Particular specialties includes lizards from Australia: Knob-tailed Geckos, Varanus (monitors), and Frilled Dragons. Other projects he has developed includes Model Herpetoculturist Program, a mail-in service for veterinary diagnostic testing for keepers and vets, and Breeder Source, an e-commerce website service tailored to the animal industry. Bird projects include species repopulation and recovery programs with California birds of prey, and pelagic birds along the California coast. Jordan has been the author of several Reptiles Magazine articles, and has provided cable TV and radio consulting and interviews on birds and reptiles. The Southern Nevada Herpetological Society (SNHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the education of its members and the general public about the proper care, husbandry, and breeding of reptiles and amphibians, and the conservation, ecology, and natural history of reptiles and amphibians in the wild, particularly herptofauna native to Nevada. SNHS members come from a wide range of experience from the novice to expert, from hobbyists and pet owners to professional biologists and educators. Our membership is open to anyone interested in these magnificent animals. We are dedicated to the education of our members, and the general public, in regards to the conservation, ecology, captive care and responsible breeding of reptiles and amphibians. Meetings are held on the first Friday of every other month (Feb, Apr, Jun, Aug, Oct, Dec) at 7:30pm (unless otherwise noted). Meetings are held at the Nevada Cooperative Extension, 8050 Paradise Road, Suite 100, Las Vegas, NV 89123.
