Marshcombe Shute. Two Traffic Orders have been published in the IWCP, page 85, on 19th Sept. Both are valid from 1530 on Tues 30th Sept to 1530 on Tues 4th November. One is in respect of one-way working from 45m east of New Road to junction with B3395 Yaverland Road (in that direction). The other is a complete road closure (in both directions) from the same location to 250m east of New Road. The orders are for installation of safety barriers at the railway and River Yar bridges. As illustrated, one-way working is already in operation - except apparently for cyclists taking part in the cycling event. I witnessed 2 cycling against the no entry signs nearly being wiped up by a car not expecting anything travelling against the one-way scheme. I wonder what the event risk assessment said about cycling against no entry signs! We have requested that Island Roads keep us informed of when the road actually will be closed and any other update they can give us. Chris Offer.
