Marvels: Agent Carter - Exclusive due January 6th Our sneak preview ---------------------------------- An article by Corey Logan Greenwald - of the free press enterprise known as: Dumb Struck Magazine Hail Hydra. --------------------------// Starting Tuesday, January 6th. 9/8 Central on ABC, comes the next great example of Marvel expanding its universe on the big as well as small screen. Hayley Atwell returns to her role begun in the first Captain America film to TV show Agent Carter. Named after her, its likely to assume this sharp-shooting vixen has much in store for us as Agents of Shields takes mid-season break. So why Agent Carter? --------------------------///// Before this reporter even gets that far, its time for a quick rundown. For those of us who havent even lived in a generation with a world war 2 based television show, seeing Hogans Heroes on nick at night as children was as close as we got. As a huge fan of history myself, this reporter cant help but feel excited but to see, if anything, a weekly turn of Nazis punched in the face. Or more likely, for those who recall her small but vital role in Captain America: The First Avenger; you may remember her standing in the middle of a busy New York City Street, perfectly headshotting an oncoming Hydra getaway driver. Of course our lovable Chris Evans as Cap, newly made muscle bound by the time this scene took place, dove and rolled out of the way of the car to Agent Carter snapping: I had the bloody shot! This in mind, shes no slouch of a hero, the shot with a side arm of hers is deadly accurate in the few times she was able to demonstrate it in the film. Also established? Her friendship with our favorite ego-maniac heros father: Stark senior. What content can we expect? ------------------------------------//// Well, lots of nazi/hydra ass kicking for one; with the synopsis on ABCs website reading: It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark. So what juicy bits have been dangled yet for us rabid marvel fans? For one: We can expect plot-holes to be neatly, if finally, patched. Example: Anton Vanko, the scientist and father to Iron Man 2 villain Whiplash. Who if you recall, Mickey Rourkes moody Russian Ivan Vanko, claims that as Antons son, Stark senior stole the Arc Reactor specs from Anton. With Costa Ronin confirmed to play as Anton Vanko across from Howard Stark and Agent Carter; this plot is likely only a tidbit of plot filling a ww2/Cold War based Marvel TV series can achieve. What do we want to see here at Struck Magazine? ---------------------///// Bucky. Namely: Bucky once revealed as the Winter Soldier in Captain America 2; was also remembered as: ...a ghost... by a brooding Black Widow. A ghost who oft unfrozen by Hydra and used for murder. Moreover, in the time frame this show takes place, it offers rare opportunity. -----SPOILERS---- (Spoiler space..) -------------------- That with Captain America: Civil War announced as Cap 3, and Chris Evanss version of Cap likely dying in the film as he does in the comics. That MCU going with the likely: Bucky/The Winter Soldier taking up his slain best friends shield; Agent Carter would be a great place for us to really see more of Buckys bad-ass transformation as an ongoing antagonist. No one has said this of course. This borders speculation and hope... But... It could be pretty awesome if you think about it. (And possible if we keep asking marvel for it!) ------------------------------------- Agent Carter starts in January. Starring: Hayley Atwell | James DArcy | Chad Michael Murray | Enver Gjokaj | Shea Whigham ------------------------------------ Article by Corey Logan Greenwald: Editor in Chief and Lead contributor-North America.
