Mason County Fire District 11 was dispatched on Sunday, June 16, 2013 around 3:25pm to a report of a wildland fire off Island Lake Road in Shelton, Washington. The fire was originally reported as roughly 100X100 and burning under the powerlines. The fire is estimated to be about two (2) acres in size. No one has been injured and no structures have been threated at this time. The fire is on Green Diamond land off Brockdale Road and is burning in heavy timber. The area of origin was found but the cause of the fire is under investigation. There may be heavy smoke so please proceed with caution when traveling through the area. If you live in the area and are at home we suggest you shut your windows and doors until the smoke clears. All Mason County Fire Districts, DNR and Green Diamond have responded and are assisting in the containment of this fire.
