Mason Dixon GSPC is hosting an AKC Hunt Test Judges Seminar in January--these seminars are hard to find; and space is limited and filling fast--if youre interested, please contact Hunter Shelley--see info below, and PLEASE feel free to share! ******************************************************************************** AKC Pointing Breed Hunt Test Judge Seminar Saturday, January 10, 2015 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM Izaak Walton League Potomac Chapter Clubhouse Poolesville, MD The Mason-Dixon GSP Club will be hosting this AKC Pointing Breed Hunt Test Judge Seminar. If you have never attended a seminar, this will be the day for you. If you have been thinking about judging, this seminar is for you. If you are a seasoned judge, this seminar is for you. We need your questions, expertise and scenarios for all to benefit. In order to become an Approved Judge, there are several requirements that a candidate must: • Apprentice twice at the level to be judged or higher with at least six (6) starters in that testing level. o An Apprentice Judge must handle a dog to at least one (1) qualifying leg at the level to be judged or higher. • Attend one AKC Pointing Breed Hunting Test Seminar. • Pass an AKC Hunting Test written test. • Handle a dog to at least three (3) qualifying legs at the level to be judged or higher. o NOTE: Approved pointing breed field trial Judges are exempt from the “handled in three (3) qualifying legs” requirement, but must still apprentice judge twice and pass the written test prior to judging Pointing Breed Hunt Tests. In order to maintain Judging Eligibility (applies to all Judges): • All Judges must have attended a seminar or passed a written test within the last five (5) years of the date of an assignment. This seminar will be open to all clubs in the Mid-Atlantic region. There will be a $40 charge per attendee in order to cover the costs of materials, food, drinks and facility.
