Massive Awareness Campaign on “Road Safety” launched in Reasi REASI, JAN 12: With the start of over 50 awareness programs from Monday morning massive awareness campaign on “Road Safety” was launched in Reasi. The program was launched by Additional Deputy Commissioner Reasi-Shiv Kumar Gupta by flagging an awareness rally, carrying road safety messages written on banners and posters from mini secretariat Reasi. “We are mainly focusing on raising public awareness on road safety. To bring in awareness on the impacts of human loss due to accidents on Indian roads, road safety week is observed every year, and this year’s slogan is road safety is not just a slogan; its a way of life’, informed ARTO Reasi The Motor Vehicle Department Reasi is organizing road safety awareness campaigns, public hearings, rallies, including bikers rally, painting competitions, quiz contest and pamphlet distribution program to observe the week added ARTO While addressing the participants ADC Reasi said, with a high number of road fatalities and injuries across the country, the emphasis should be to spread the message of safe driving.“Raising road safety issues in our country is extremely essential added ADC. PO DRDA-Dr Jagdish Mehra said observing a week dedicated to road safety awareness is not only beneficial for school students, but is also an important opportunity for all other stakeholders to contribute to the cause by taking up various activities and supporting the concept.” On the occasion, a colorful skit on the theme of road safety was presented by the students of Amba Kids School, Katra which was highly appreciated by the participants. PO DRDA-Dr Jagdish Mehra, DySP(HQR)-Jugal Kishore Sharma, CDPO Reasi-Pritam Lal Thappa, DIO-Parvinder Kour, District Traffic Inspector-Vikas Dogra, ALC-Seema Khanna, MVD Inspector-Vikas Srivats, large number of school and college students, Staff of various schools and large number of locals were also present on the occasion. The rally passed through the main bazaar, nai basti area, bus stand and culminated at mini sports stadium Reasi. Pamphlets emphasizing on obeying road safety rules, crossing roads carefully, driving without causing accidents, avoiding drunk driving, haphazard parking of vehicles and adhering to traffic signals were distributed during the rally. Banners and posters were also placed at important points in the suburban areas.
