Masterclass with Paul Taggart [Series 1] – Trailer ALTHOUGH DEMONSTRATED IN OILS – THIS MASTERCLASS CAN ALSO BE ADAPTED FOR USE WITH ACRYLICS – for I often exploit traditional techniques for use across other media; as I show in other on-line tutorials within our ever-growing collection of boxed-sets. Painting is my passion and sharing that passion gives me enormous pleasure. Although I work in all media for tutorials; my Masterworks produced for Private Collectors are primarily oil paintings. Traditional techniques form the cornerstone of my work – which requires time and deliberation. Viewers of my work are fascinated to understand the process that I use and for this reason we started to produce filmed ‘reveals’ of some of my paintings, including ‘Reflecting on Longhope Sound’ – part of our fund-raising project in aid of RNLI Scotland and the subject of this Masterclass. Followers of my tutorials are equally fascinated to possess a greater understanding of traditional techniques – which is why we film these selected Masterclasses. However, to film each and every stroke as I paint would involve a monumental amount of filming and viewing time -- which is why for Masterclass we focus on one particular section, so that you can watch that develop from start to finish. This boxed-set of six videos takes you through my traditional layering technique of working from dark to light; you can watch as Eileen’s camera tracks every brush-stroke, every colour mix, every detail – with close-ups revealing the results of maximising specific techniques such as glazing and tinting. Through my running commentary you will pick up a host of techniques, hints, tips and more as I describe my actions, my thought process, my method, my colour mixes. You will learn about glazing, about tinting, about sgraffito, about tonking. Nothing is left out, for I do not believe in holding anything back. You are right there with me at my Masterworks easel. And as with everything we do on the tutorial side of my work as a Professional Artist - value for money is key to our philosophy; which is why we have priced each episode of this Video on Demand boxed-set at less than the price of a branded tube of oil paint - with a discount for renting or buying the complete set. And a little something extra, our ‘reveal’ of ‘Reflecting on Longhope Sound’, which tells the story of how this painting came to be - our personal tribute to the crew of the T.G.B - accompanied by a poignant song written by our friend George Livingstone, which is performed by George and Tony Perridge who record as the traditional folk group Corralach.
