***Match Report 16 February 2014 - U16 State*** Last game of the season and we traveled to Berwick, who are sitting 3rd on the ladder. A tough challenge at the best of times but a little harder with only 8 players and one them being slightly injured. We started slow with our batting, in top of the first 3up / 3 down. Luke was our starting Pitcher today and was having a little trouble in the first dig just finding the spot, but came back better in the 2nd Dig. Alex was next up giving it a real go, but one thing we have learnt about Berwick City is that they a very good batting side. We finished with Jack on the hill and he chucked some really good pitches. (Showing a bit of heat there Jack) Hamish once again caught extremely well and has grown into the role of a catcher. (Hamish the improvement this year & the challenges we have faced have all been handled well) We hit the ball hard to but managed to find the fielders on all but 2 occasions and runners were LOB. We were aggressive with the bat and that’s always good. We made some plays, but we were a little down in the field today. Hits 2: Hamish 1 Single – Bailey 1 Single Overall it was good to see the improvement in you all this Year, Its hard playing State League at any time but for a mostly bottom age group I can see a lot of positives coming out of the season. The final score: Berwick City 25 - Preston Pirates 0 Dont forget the Junior Awards function will be held on Sunday 2 March at 1.00pm at the Club. $5 per head.
