****Match Report**** Or perhaps the title should read 26 blokes killing a few hours on the beach whilst exchanging whimsical anecdotes and successfully avoiding any kind of contact with fish, messy business that catching fish you know! As Im sure youve already realised the fishing was far from great, it was a night of what could have been! The huge bags of Scad, Mackerel, Bream, Gars etc that we were all looking forward to simply did not materialise, and conditions dictated a different approach with most anglers looking for Bass, Eels and flatties using worm and crab on the deck rather than popping up fish baits. For the most part we were lucky with the weather, with just a gentle SW wind keeping a light chop on the water, it wasnt until the last 45 minutes that the heavens decided to open! So yet again it was the same old (or young in this case) faces at the top of the score sheet, with the two leaders of the league picking up top prizes yet again, local ace Ollie Im not Ginger Hopkins winning the night and our overseas foreign friend The Daz. winning A zone. It was an especially good night for Ollie who not only picked up the overall prize but also BOTH fish pools prizes!! Netting him £172 for his efforts!! Mines a Guiness please mate... A special mention must go out to our youngest ever competitor Bradley Mapstone, aged just 11 years old. He managed a very credible 6th in his zone, and most importantly beat his dad!!!
