Matthew 18:21-22 ESV Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times. The number 7 in the Bible often is a symbol of completion. So when Peter asks this, he is asking: Should I forgive them completely? Jesus says No. You should forgive them completely and then keep forgiving them. When you forgive someone you completely forgive them and then every time you think of them you keep forgiving them completely, every time.
